Our universities house some of the best physics teacher preparation programs in the country. We are educators dedicated to physics education and ensuring that our graduates are well prepared when they enter the classroom and that they have support throughout their entire careers.
We know that a university education requires an investment of time and money, but you will be well prepared for a long career. While in our programs, you will get teaching experience from your first two years onwards, and begin working with high school teachers on exciting projects. You will be mentored by university and high school instructors, and through them you will develop a support network who will guide you as you enter the teaching profession and for years after. Scholarship programs are also available specifically for STEM teaching degrees.
Each of the partner universities is an active member of PhysTEC, the national organization devoted to increasing the quantity and quality of physics teachers. Texas A&M University-Commerce and Texas State University have both been PhysTEC Comprehensive sites and as such are recognized as national models for physics teacher preparation. Faculty at the University of Houston and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley have been recognized as PhysTEC fellows for their dedicated efforts in physics teacher preparation. As part of the PhysTEC community, we employ best practices in physics teacher preparation.
